WALK AT NIGHT
_________________________
CULTS’ self-titled album is my favorite record from this year…in case you guys were wondering. I never really paid much attention to this track until a few months ago; from 1:42 to the end- the instrumental bit leading up to the last verse- is just all I could ever ask for in a song.
When I walk at night I can’t help but i know it’s right
When I walk alone I’m hoping for things unknown
When I’m on my own I try to get as far from home
When I wanna be, there’s no bright light surrounding me
When I walk at night I can’t help but I know it’s right
When I walk alone I’m hoping for things unknown
When I clear your side, I’m searching for some surprise
When I’m by your side, I can’t forget all our ties
When I’m on my own I try to get as far from home
Where I wanna be, there’s no bright light surrounding me
You keep on tryin to make make believe
that no one knows of your lies and your deceit
There’s no use in me tryin to be the things
I wanted and that’s right for me
There’s no point playing hard to get
I figured I’ll just sit on your swing
It’s easy singing everyday until I walk at night
I’ve enjoyed every track from this album (although I haven’t listened to “Rave On” all that much but, I did like “Make Time”)- some more than others but, not by a whole lot. It’s a good record to listen when you’re walking around a new city, on campus, weaving through traffic, alone in your room, on a road trip with friends and family- this album was pretty much the soundtrack to my life since it was released back in June.
Needless to say, though, there were many records that I’ve listened to and enjoyed throughout this year…I’m not one for lists so, if it’s been posted on here or was placed onto a mixtape, that’s good enough. I’d also like to give a big “THANK YOU” to all the bands and labels that have e-mailed and shared their tunes with me and all the listeners that follow or stumble upon this site/blog/audio journal/whatever you want to call it. And to all the record labels that didn’t issue a warning when I posted some of those leaks. :)

Not quite as good as the old Pipettes material but certainly more enjoyable than any of the tracks on Earth vs. The Pipettes.
